About the Speaker

Dr Swantje Westpfahl holds a doctorate in the interdisciplinary field of computational linguistics, a combination of machine learning and linguistics. After completing her doctorate, she moved into information security as a consultant and took on the design and implementation of international training and further education programmes in the areas of IT and OT security, business resilience and security culture. In 2021, she took over as managing director of the institute.

She later took over the management of VICCON GmbH, which offers consulting services in the field of ISMS and BCM. Since August 2025, she has been solely a shareholder in both companies and now focuses on research and teaching at the FHNW in Basel. In addition, she has been involved in international committees for many years, for example as a subject matter expert in various working groups on cyber security at the World Economic Forum, the EE-ISAC and the EU Commission's Smart Grids Task Force
